News of the Day 2-10-2010

This morning we...
- drew with marker and glued buttons
- pretended that we were "Supers" with capes and all!
- opened and CLOSED the Medea and Olivia's Ice Cream Shop frequently
- had Spanish with Teal
- built a lighthouse on the couch and played out a chapter book that Otis has been reading
Outside we...
- continued the lighthouse play by bringing a camping lantern outside and pretending that there were many storms to warm ships about

This morning we...
- built a train track on the big table
- worked on projects using the "Beautiful Stuff" drawers
- during hello meeting we tried a new greeting called the Spider Web
- played with the new ice cream setup in the kitchen/market
- played house with the dolls
- built a rocket with the couch pillows
- had Art with Abby
- read "Alien and Possum: Friends No Matter What" by Tony Johnston
Outside we...
- we player Red Light, Green Light and Simon Says and Runaway Cookies

News of the Day 1-28-2010

This morning we...
- went right to work on building a airplane out of the couch pillows
- had to have a "Silly Hello Meeting" in the block area. Otis invented a new Greeting! We all drew a picture at the project table and brought it to the circle. When we greeted a friend we also handed them the picture. So sweet! Next time we will work on the concept of giving, as ultimately everyone wanted their own picture back ;)
- chanted Funga Alafia, Oh My, and Ah Beep Beep!
- worked on project made out of materials form the Beautiful Stuff drawers. This has become of favorite activity for some of the children
- bought smoothies from Anika's Smoothie Stand (ice ream and coins included)
- played with the Goobely Balls in the Texture Table
- looked at books independently
Outside we...
- slid down Ice Mountain (the artist formerly known as Snow Mountain)
- worked in the sand box to chop up the frozen sand and release the stuck dump truck
- climbed up onto the ship and jumped on the ice
- moved ice chunks with the wheel barrow
- basically played with ice!

A budding writer

This morning we...
- drew pictures with new fancy pencils and markers
- had Spanish with Teal
- worked on lots of puzzles
- played with baby dolls in the "house" (Amy-mad structure) and made beds for them out of unit blocks
- played astronauts and aliens using the couch as out rocket ship
Outside we...
- played Hide and Seek! We are learning not to reveal the secret hiding places of our friends ;)
