News of the Day 1-28-2010

This morning we...
- went right to work on building a airplane out of the couch pillows
- had to have a "Silly Hello Meeting" in the block area. Otis invented a new Greeting! We all drew a picture at the project table and brought it to the circle. When we greeted a friend we also handed them the picture. So sweet! Next time we will work on the concept of giving, as ultimately everyone wanted their own pic
ture back ;)
- chanted Funga Alafia, Oh My, and Ah Beep Beep!
- worked on project made out of materials form the Beautiful Stuff drawers. This has become of favorite activity for some of the children
- bought smoothies from Anika's Smoothie Stand (ice ream and coins included)
- played with the Goobely Balls in the Texture Table
- looked at books independently
Outside we...

- slid down Ice Mountain (the artist formerly known as Snow Mountain)
- worked in the sand box to chop up the frozen sand and release the stuck dump t
ruck
- climbed up onto the ship and jumped on the ice

- moved ice chunks with the wheel barrow
- basically played with ice!

News of the Day 1-27-2010

A budding writer
This morning we...
- drew pictures with new fancy pencils and markers
- had Spanish with Teal
- worked on lots of puzzles
- played with baby dolls in the "house" (Amy-mad structure) and made beds for them out of unit blocks
- played astronauts and aliens using the couch as out rocket ship
Outside we...
- played Hide and Seek! We are learning not to reveal the secret hiding places of our friends ;)

The Incredible Doctor Fox!
This morning we...
- played "Garbage Sharks" and "Garbage Protector Knight"
- explored the "Goobely Balls" that appeared in the Texture Table
- made project with the materials from the newly appeared "Beautiful Stuff" drawers
- bought smoothies and tea
- made Frosty the Snowman out of Hollow Blocks and various other materials
- had Art with Abby

Outside we...
- were ice choppers
- played mommy/mama and daddy/papa
- played in the sandbox and pretended it was summer

News of the Day 1-21-2010

This morning we...
- painted with watercolors
- read "Mercy Watson: Something Wonky This Way Comes" - these kids LOVE Mercy!
- ALL built and played rocket ship. Some of us used couch pillows, some the large hollow blocks, and some unit and cardboard blocks... I sense a theme here!
Outside we...
- played HOCKEY
- played on the swings
- slid down Snow Mountain





























my favorite quote from the day was during lunch while I was grabbing my own meal from the kitchen and during a flurry of conversation I hear Rowan belt out jovially: "I don't know what you are talking about!" Profound statement that we all can understand!

- got treats from Medea's Ice Cream Shop
- had Spanish with Teal

- slid down an icy section of Snow Mountain
- chopped holed in the ice and snow with sticks and scrapers

- played Teddy Bear Memory
- read "Strega Nona's Magic Lesson" by Tomie DePaola
- built rockets ships with the hollow blocks and also with the couch pillows
- played store and supplied the rocket ships
- had Art with Abby
Outside we...
- crunched ice chunks that fell off the roof
- played frisbee
- pretended we were invisible!

- made pictures on a chalk-cloth
- drew pictures with markers
- created patterns with colored pegs on a pegboard
- read "Mercy Watson Fights Crime" by Kate DiCamillo
- played mermaid, mermaid dog, robot, soldier, and Anika's Restaurant.
- we had a parade!
Outside we...
- pretended we traveled to the moon and then explored
- played mommy and sister
- filled the wheel barrow with snow and delivered it to snow mountain

- tried to remember that Lily is now Isabel!!!

News of the Day 1-5-2010



This morning we...
- worked with playdough
- played a new number game
- used stencils to practice line drawings
- read 8 or so chapters of 'Mercy Watson Fights Crime' by Kate DiCamillo and 'The Robot and the Bluebird" by David Lucas , and 'Johnny Appleseed' by Reeve Lindbergh (Vermont author)
- built a barn and house out of unit blocks
- imagined ourselves as construction workers and built a house for ourselves. We then constructed a water pipe that needed constant fixing!
Outside we...
- dug lots of trails through the snow
- began work of 2 separate forts
- jumped off the snow pile

- sat in the snow pile :)
