News Of The Day 3-1-2011

Today we...
- were soooo happy to be back together and to get back into our routine!
- had Espanol con Teal (read Conejo Knuffle in prep for tomorrow)
- played at the sensory table with goobley balls and ice cubes. We discovered creatures frozen into the ice cubes! So they became fish eggs and the table became an aquarium
- played iron man/ space ship
- drew at the project table
- had Otis's half-birthday celebration
Outside we...
- played hunting dogs and snow angels
- had a big snow battle!!!

We re-started "The Moon Robber" since it had been a while since we have read it and some hadn't heard some parts...

- worked on sewing cards and with pattern blocks
- had Art with Abby [painting]
- CAPTURED ANDY WITH A LOT OF ROPE!!!

- tried to make invisible ink with lemon juice. Alas it didn't work. Sometimes experiments just don't work. We talked about it and agreed to use the juice of a real lemon next time!

- played on the giant snow pile!

Today we...
- played Pete The Pirate (board game) using Otis's new rules. These were kids get it but adult might not rules...
- read "Necks Out For Adventure"
- played Pete The Pirate again, this time using game rules
- built a satellite, a boat, and a spaceship and were spies!
Outside we...
- played as living toys Pengy and Cortex
- played hunting dogs
- played sisters
- slid down the big hill on our bums

Yesterday we started reading a new chapter book titled "The Magic Door Series: The Moon Robber", by Dean Morrissey. I really like this author's style and the fact that he crosses his mythology over between books, both picture and chapter. Some questions to ask...
- Where did Michael, Sarah, and Joey start there adventure? (Sam's toy shop)
- How did they get into the Great Kettles? (the magic door)
- Who did they meet first? (the old lady Videlia Potts)
- What was making the earth shake? (Mogg the giant)
- What machine did the children go in? (the Moon!)

- played babies who were "super bad"

- played sick mommy and sister
- slip down big snow mountain on our bums!
